Single Storey Front Extension and Loft Conversion - Berkhamsted
This project was a full refurbishment of a house and involved the construction of an extension and the installation of attic roof trusses to enable additional rooms to be constructed in the attic. During the construction a' tin hat' scaffold was erected to protect the building from inclement weather.

Single Storey Rear Extension - Abridge
This project involved the construction of a small extension to the existing single storey rear addition. Also installation of bi folding doors, new kitchen and tiling.
Although this was a small job, planning and programming was of the utmost importance as we had key dates to meet i.e. the installation date for the bi folding doors and the delivery of the kitchen cabinetry and appliances.
The project ran smoothly with minimal disruption to the clients.

Single Storey Rear Extension - Buckhurst Hill
We were asked by the clients to come up with a design and estimate to build an extension to their lounge which could be used as a dining area. They wanted the extension to give them the 'alfresco dining experience' feel and be contemporary in design. We were successful in our bid and were given the go ahead to prepare drawings and our detailed quotation.
We proposed a tiled roof and a glazed gable end supported off steel universal beams, steel box sections and a universal columns which would be clad with upvc. Also required were two patio doors to the rear and side elevation which, when open, would leave the upvc clad column standing alone.
To enable the ridge height to be constructed below the first floor bedroom window we proposed to use Sandtoft 20/20 plain tile, which would look similar to the plain tiles on the main roof. Plain tiles could not be used because the pitch of the roof was too shallow.
Clients were happy with the final design and price and we were given the go ahead to submit drawings to the Local Authority. We obtained permissions fairly quickly and we started the build two weeks later.
The project also included removal of the existing rear wall and installation of a pair of steel universal beams, oak engineered wood strip flooring, Indian Sandstone paving and Parex rendering to the first floor elevations.

Two Storey Side Extension, Loft Conversion & Double Garage - Abridge
For this design and build project, one of the specific requirement in the clients brief was for the new bricks and tiles to match the existing. After numerous visits to different builders merchants we managed to source a brick to match and selected the packs we required after obtaining approval from the client.
We obtained the tiles from a tile reclaim yard. To match the pointing we produced a number of mortar samples using different sands and cements blending the sands as necessary to obtain the best match.
The outcome is that the extension looks like it's a part of the original house and the client is 'over the moon' with the end result.
New Dormer Windows, Fyfield, Essex
The project was basically to replace the existing Velux windows with dormer windows and reduce the traffic noise. The clients also wanted the dormers to be maintenance free.
We used Parex Monorex rendering on the dormer cheeks (a specialist rendering system that does not require painting) and upvc fascia and soffit.
Internally we removed the existing plasterboard and insulation and replaced with sound deadening quilt, insulation and sound check plaster boards, we also fitted acoustic glass in the windows. This work has reduced traffic noise significantly within the rooms.
