In 2014, Lawrence & Co will celebrate 50 years of installing, repairing, renovating and refurbishing natural stone and terrazzo flooring throughout the UK and in Europe.

Natural Stone Flooring
Natural stone flooring will never go out of style. Terrazzo, marble, slate, granite, limestone and sandstone have their own natural colours, shades and veins that cannot be matched by synthetic products. Correctly laid and with the correct care and maintenance, natural stone floors enhance the value of any building. Stone floors have a longevity that can be measured in centuries.
Lawrence & Co. have 40 years experience of laying stone and terrazzo tile flooring. We are one the UKs most sought after specialists in the renovation and restoration of stone floors. Our business is the refurbishment, repair, cleaning, sealing and diamond polishing of all natural stone flooring.
Our clients include the biggest names in the construction industry as well as churches, cathedrals, supermarkets, museums and - of course - domestic customers.
Domestic Installation, Floor Repair and Restoration
Lawrence & Co. Show the same care and attention to detail in our domestic work as we do for our larger corporate clients. The installation of natural stone floors is an art and a science and must be left to skilled and experienced stone floor fitters. As our friends at Premier Building Services know, the lowest quote is rarely the mark of a skilled craftsman and given the costs associated with stone flooring, the cheapest estimate often turns into the most expensive mistake.
Terrazzo, marble and natural stone flooring is as popular today as it has ever been and it is a regular choice for new build housing and for extensions and conservatories. It is hardwearing, practical and versatile.
Over the years, damage can occur – and it can also be repaired. Lawco regularly carry out fire and flood repairs, replacing cracked and broken tiles, cutting out joints, filling with synthetic resins, carbon stone grinding to create a good-as-new finish.
Staircase Repairs
Stone staircases are usually constructed with the tread lying on top of the riser and keyed into the wall at one side. Handrails are often drilled into the tread on the other side. The replacement of a damaged tread can be prohibitively expensive as it can entail a major rebuilding exercise for the whole stair case. Over the years, Lawco have developed specialist techniques for the renovation of damaged stone staircase including repair of cracks, gouges, holes, staining and impact damage.
There are examples of our work in staircase renovation on our website including recent projects carried out at Our Lady Catholic College, Lancaster, and at the Blue Coat School in Liverpool.
Retail and Supermarket Flooring
The Lawco client list reads like a who's who of commercial companies in the UK and includes all the major supermarkets.
A different set of skills - and equipment - is needed for commercial stone flooring. Lawco have developed our own in-house training programme for all our staff and our craftsmen are fully qualified for working in the construction industry. We have CHAS accreditation; PASMA for scaffolding and IPAF work working with booms and access equipment. Our teams are CRB checked for working in schools and colleges.
Lawco have developed many of the practices for laying and finishing stones floors that are now industry standards, including diamond polishing stone floors to give them a glass-like shine.
